AI is not a teaching problem. It’s a governance and visibility problem.

The aegis between students and “AI.”

Aegis is a governed AI assistant for students and staff. Students will use AI either way. This is the version the school sets the policy for, reviews, and keeps a record of.

When it matters most

A student in trouble should not be locked out.

Wellbeing is not a filter setting. It is someone noticing, in time.

The reflex is to block. A filter sees a hard question, shuts the conversation down, and the student learns not to ask again. Nobody is safer, and nobody knows.

The student keeps the help

Raising something hard does not cut a student off from the support they came for. The one door they were willing to walk through stays open.

A person is told, early

The concern goes to a teacher with what was said attached, on the school's own escalation process. Early, not after the fact.

A person decides

The platform raises it. What happens next is a judgement made by someone who knows the student.

Why this exists

Right now, nobody can see what is happening.

Unmonitored AI in a school creates risk that lands on the school. Not on the vendor, and not on the student.

Not visible

Students are already using AI. Nobody can say what was asked, what came back, or when someone should have been told.

Not provable

Student data goes somewhere. Who can see it, how long it is kept, and how it gets deleted become questions the school cannot answer.

Not enforceable

A policy you cannot see is a policy in name only. Nobody can tell whether it is being followed.

Aegis shows the school what is being asked, what comes back, what is recorded, and who is told when something is off.

In plain terms

One platform, four purposes.

Students get help with their schoolwork. Teachers get an assistant of their own. The school gets the policy and the record. The answers come from this school, not a generic one. A tool that works for the student but not the school gets banned. One that satisfies the school but bores the student goes unused.

01

The student

Help with their schoolwork, at their own pace, shaped by their learning plan and their own safeguards. Not a one-size class setting.

02

The teacher

An assistant of their own, separate from the classroom. When a student needs support, a teacher is told early, with the evidence attached.

03

The school

The school sets the policy. Requests and responses are reviewed against it, and the school keeps the record.

04

The curriculum

Answers grounded in this school: its people, its places, how it actually operates. A student who needs help is pointed to someone they can walk to, by name.

Who builds this

Built in Canberra. Not offshore.

askew.aegis is built by askew.systems, a small Australian team in Canberra. The team already works on checking AI against policy and controls, and on making it useful inside those limits, in schools and in the enterprise.

If you want to talk to the people who build it, that is a meeting. Not a ticket routed through three time zones, and not an account manager who has never seen a staffroom.

Governance is not a feature we added once schools started asking for it. It is the reason the platform exists.

Governance is the product.

Every query governed, every exchange recorded, concerns reviewed by people. If that is the standard your schools need, start a conversation.
